- 500 gr chicken
- 1 tbsp spicy sauce
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 piece of cinnamon
- 2 or 3 cardamom pods
- 2 or 3 cloves
- 2 or 3 pieces of star anise
- 2 bay leaves
- 6 small tomatoes (about 100 gr)
- water (if the sauce is too thick)
- ½ tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp lemongrass
- 5 or 6 garlic cloves
- 2 or 3 cm ginger fresh
- 10 shallots (or 1 onion)
Chop chicken and fry it in a pan with a little oil on high heat until it is golden. Set it aside.
Chop garlic, shallots, ginger, lemongrass, and fry them in the pan with a little oil on medium-high heat.
Meanwhile, grate tomatoes.
Add spicy sauce, the remaining spices, grated tomatoes, sugar and bay leaves.
Stir it. When it starts boiling add the chicken. Mix it and low the heat. Let it cook for a few minutes, until the chicken is tender. Add some water if the sauce is thick. Add salt to taste and serve hot.
