Serves 4:

  • 400 gr beef
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce
  • 2 tsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp ground cayenne
  • 4 or 5 garlic cloves
  • pepper
  • oil

For the pepper sauce:

  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp ground garlic
  • 2 tsp lime
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp fish sauce or a pinch of salt

For the garnish:

  • lettuce
  • 200 gr plain rice
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 small cucumbers

Chop garlic.

Slice thinly the beef.

Marinate the beef for 30 minutes with sauces (soy, sweet soy, oyster, tomato and fish), sugar, pepper, cayenne and garlic..

Prepare the pepper sauce by mixing all ingredients.

Cook the plain rice.

Wash the lettuce and chop it in small pieces (to wrap the beef with it and eat each lok lak piece by just one bite).

Wash, peel and chop the tomatoes into wedges. Peel and cut the cucumbers into sticks. Cut the onion in julienne slices.

10 colocar lechuga 11 colocar arroz

Place the lettuce on a dish. Place the rice.

9 rehogar carne 9 ya rehogada 12 colocar carne

Cook the beef for some minutes on medium-high heat and place it on the rice.

Add cucumber, onion and tomato. Serve lok lak with the pepper sauce.
